Long drive from Bar Harbor out to northwestern Vermont and then back to Tamworth, NH. About 10 hours.
Day 3 off from running, but it allowed me to get in a 18.5 mile time trial effort on my bike in 50:32. Didn't really warm up, just went. Figured it would take about as long as Loon will this Sunday and thought it would be good practice to suffer for 50ish minutes. I've always run uphill races pretty well from bike training and at this point that's all I've got, so I'll give it a go and have fun with it. I'm calling off just about all my other races for the summer other than running easy at the Bradbury races and even those I may even help out at. Anyhow, time trial was 2 loops, each 9.25 miles. First loop in 25:38 and the second loop I managed 24:53. Pretty flat loop which let me push the whole time without breaks. I cannot do this back home on MDI because there isn't a flat section on the island more than a mile or so. But here in NH there are bigger hills and plenty of flat roads in the valleys to use. I pretty much tried to make my heart explode, the same thing that it will feel like on Sunday going up Loon Mountain. Now 2 days of easy riding and maybe even a short run to check on my back..
