11th and 12th I took off. I got a lot of walking in and I've stayed plenty busy.
13th I got in a short run on pavement from home. 4.9 miles, 31:12. Wicked humid out. Did a loop from my house I don't think I'd done before.
My good friend EG's running club in the county had an extra number for the 1/2 marathon here next weekend and I snagged that. Although I've only been training for about 2 weeks and gotten 7-8 runs in and maxing out at 8 miles for one of them, I figured it would be good to jump into something with a lot of people and just run a little longer. Speaking of running longer, state Rep, AG and his band will be down this weekend playing at the Lompoc Cafe and Sunday him and another state rep. LL and possibly some other fast runners are running long on Sunday. So I guess I'll be running 20+ miles on Sunday just because I got talked into it. Luckily delayed onset muscle soreness is delayed and I love eary season runs with faster people to motivate me. I figure I'd start week 3 out with a bang and end it with a half marathon race. Race? Well I'll run it hard. Top 5 would be nice and maybe 6:30 pace or so for an average. I have no business racing yet, but the 1/2 course here is nice and hilly and should be a good fitness builder. I probably will be behind some people who I have never been behind before, but they can enjoy that and I'll enjoy getting motivated by it.
